Why Travel by Bus to Edinburgh Airport from Aberdeen Instead of Train?
It is far more convenient to travel from Aberdeen to Edinburgh Airport and vice versa by bus than it is by train as there is no train station at Edinburgh Airport. If you want to travel by train, you need to first go from Aberdeen to Edinburgh Waverley or Edinburgh Haymarket railway stations and then catch the Airlink 100 bus which runs every 10 or 20 minutes and takes around another half hour.
It is also usually far cheaper to travel between Aberdeen (ABD) and Edinburgh by bus than it is to travel by train. The cheapest Off-Peak Return train ticket to Edinburgh Haymarket (HYM) or Edinburgh Waverley (EDB) is around £20 and takes around 2 hours and 30 minutes. However, tickets booked at shorter notice are usually far more than this and journeys can cost well over £50, which is double the price of the highest fare charged by Megabus.com. You also need to pay for the Airlink 100 bus ticket from the centre of Edinburgh to Edinburgh Airport which costs £3.50 for a single journey or £6 return.
