Part of the Best Western chain of hotels, the Bruntsfield is independently owned and offers a mix of good food, clean and spacious accommodation, and a high level of service. Being located opposite the Meadows park, this is a quiet hotel which offers a peaceful stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city while still being easily accessible from the centre.
Building and room design
- The Bruntsfield has 67 bedrooms which most reviewers said were comfortable, modern and very clean. Some rooms overlook Bruntsfield Park or Edinburgh Castle, and the Firth of Forth.
- Depending on the grade of room, some have feature bathrooms with roll top baths or 4 poster beds.
- A very small percentage of guests felt that the rooms or bathrooms were a little shabby or needed updating although the hotel underwent a general refurbishment within the last couple of years. This may mean that some guest rooms have not yet been refurbished.
- A few reviewers said that the hotel was too corporate and bland for their liking.
- Free internet is available in the rooms and free wireless Internet in the public areas which was appreciated by many.

- It is conveniently situated for those wanting to be close to the university.
- There is a bus stop a couple of minutes from the hotel and the city centre is a 5-minute bus journey away.
- The parking is free but limited as there is space for approximately half of the guest rooms. Some guests felt that not being certain of available parking space was a real drawback.
- Although not in the centre, there are several cafes and restaurants in the Bruntsfield area and it has a lively village atmosphere.
