The Caledonian Hotel
Restaurant and bars at the Caledonian Hotel
The Caledonian Hotel has two bars and two restaurants. The Castle Suite Lounge is located on the ground floor and offers sandwiches and beverages throughout the day. Henry J Beans is more of an American-style diner open for lunch and dinner than just a bar. The bar does have, however, a very wide selection of liquors and cocktails.
The Pompadour is the Caledonian Hotel's luxury restaurant. It's a stylish and elegant, if not a bit pretentious -- hence the name. The dishes blend the freshness of Scottish produce with an unmistakable French flair.
The Caledonian also has a more informal restaurant -- The Chisholms -- which has an unusual historic twist to it. The Caledonian Railway company closed down and demolished the Princes Street Station but parts of it have been built into the Chisholms Restaurant. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You can also go out and try some of Edinburgh's excellent pubs and restaurants. The ones that are easiest to reach are those in the New Town along George Street and Queen Street and the famous pubs in the Grassmarket which you can get to by walking along Lothian Road and then King's Stables Road.
