The Caledonian Hotel has a total of 230 rooms -- Single, Twin, Double, Executive Twin/Double -- and 21 suites. They are spacious and luxurious, with palatial ceilings and many original features. These are standard Hilton Hotel rooms with prices ranging from £90 to £375.

The design of the hotel rooms varies from traditional to contemporary. The standard rooms come equipped with the usual you'd expect from a Hilton hotel such as mini bar, interactive television, hair dryer, heated towel rails in the bathrooms, electronic door locks, seating area, work desk, hospitality tray, ironing board and most rooms have safes.

The Executive rooms at the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh are more spacious and the decor with its antique furniture reflects the luxury and grandeur of the entire hotel.

There are 21 suites at the Caledonian Hilton Hotel all consisting of a large bedroom and large sitting room. The biggest plus for the suites are the views of Edinburgh Castle which is a deciding factor for many visitors choosing the Caledonian as their luxury accommodation in Edinburgh.

The biggest drawback of the hotel is the lack of air conditioning. While Edinburgh is by no means a hot place, the City Centre can get quite stuffy in the summer. On the bright side, Caledonian Hotel does, however, provide table fans.

Origin of 'Edinburgh'
