Travel with Scottish Citylink coaches

Scottish Citylink coaches are the best for taking a longer trip from Edinburgh to other towns in Scotland. They are comfortable, clean and tickets are very affordable.

Scottish Citylink have a whole network of coach routes so you can travel virtually all across Scotland, to Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee and in the summer there is a very good direct coach service to Fort William from Edinburgh.

To travel to places like Oban and the Isle of Skye from Edinburgh by Citylink coach you have to travel to Glasgow first and take the bus from there. Citylink have very frequent and good value services to Glasgow. Buses leave from St. Andrews bus station.

Travel with Megabus buses

Megabus is a very cheap way to travel by coach to other Scottish towns from Edinburgh. It is the equivalent of a low cost airline. You can take trips using Megabus to Dundee, Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Perth.

The bus service is frequent which means that if one fails to turn up you can always catch the next one. One word of warning, cost of travel by Megabus is very low but the standard and quality of service, like with any budget transportation company, leaves to be desired.

The only way to buy tickets for Megabus journeys is online, on their website. You will be given a reservation number which you must take with you before your trip. Buses leave from St. Andrews bus station.

Origin of 'Edinburgh'
