Conclusion - Finding Edinburgh hotels and apartments suitable for families or groups
There are several choices of 4 and 5 star accommodation to choose from in the centre of Edinburgh. Some are spacious apartments with separate lounge and kitchen areas, whereas others are family-sized guest rooms, sleeping 2 adults and 2 children. Other hotels, such as the 5-star Balmoral Hotel, the 4-star Apex Waterloo and the traditional 4-star Roxburghe Hotel also have family rooms or suites which can sleep two adults and up to two children using pull down sofas or extra cots.
Privacy is an important factor and you should carefully check the exact sleeping arrangements before confirming your reservation. Many family rooms will be spacious but the beds will all be in one room and while this might work for families, it may not be suitable for adults travelling together.
The serviced apartments included have many of the facilities that a hotel might offer but there are many other apartments in Edinburgh to choose from for the larger groups (see Serviced apartments in Edinburgh). A serviced apartment will also have one or more bedrooms as well as a separate lounge and kitchen area - but most of these are self-catering, so if you want to have your meals prepared for you then choose a hotel or an aparthotel with a restaurant or room service.
