Why Travel to Edinburgh Airport from Inverness by Bus instead of Train?

Cheaper and more convenient to travel from Inverness Bus Station to Edinburgh Airport by bus

It is far easier to travel from Inverness to Edinburgh Airport and vice versa by bus than train as there is no train station at Edinburgh Airport. If you want to get there by train, it can actually take far longer as you need to travel from Inverness to Edinburgh Waverley or Edinburgh Haymarket railway stations and then catch the Airlink 100 bus which goes every 10 or 20 minutes and takes around 30 minutes.

Price is also an important factor as it is also cheaper to travel between Inverness and Edinburgh Airport with Megabus.com than if you take the train. The cheapest Off-Peak Return train ticket to Edinburgh Haymarket (HYM) or Edinburgh Waverley (EDB) is around £20 and takes around 4 hours or longer. However, rail tickets booked at shorter notice are invariably more expensive and a return ticket can cost in excess of £60. Plus, of course there is the cost of the Airlink 100 bus ticket from the train station in Edinburgh to Edinburgh airport which costs £3.50 for a single journey or £6 return.
