The Edinburgh Military Tattoo runs from 5 - 27 August 2011. Ticket prices range from £16 to £50 for the best possible seats.

Tickets for this year's Tattoo have gone on sale in December 2010 and have quickly sold out. Book your seats as quickly as possible as dates are often all sold out by Easter time. This is particularly important if you are looking to get good seats or group tickets.

How much are tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo?

The cheapest Edinburgh Tattoo tickets are £16. These are only available on the South Stand (sections A1, B1) and North Stand (section A). Most tickets cost between £23-£31 while the best available seats cost as much as £50. Seating Plan and Prices (PDF)

The view over the Castle Esplanade isn't that good for the £16 tickets so I would recommend trying to get at least the £23 tickets. Given the choice, though, I would go for the £31 tickets as they are the best compromise between value for money and view.

If you are booking tickets for the North and South stands, I would recommend getting seats as far away from the Castle as possible (sections B and C). These seats give you a good frontal/side view of the Tattoo cast as they come out from the Castle whereas with sections E, F and G you tend to only get a side/rear view .

Tickets for Military Tattoo Performances followed by Fireworks

You will have to pay £3 extra for all Saturday performances which are followed by fireworks display.

You can buy tickets on the official Edinburgh Military Tattoo website but all official tickets are now sold out. You can book a maximum of 8 tickets per household. The system automatically allocates the best available seats so if you are looking to book specific row or seat numbers you must select another method of booking.

Cheap Edinburgh Military Tattoo tickets

Every year there are a limited number of half-price tickets for the Military Tattoo preview performance (Thursday 4 August 2011). This is a general rehearsal where the press are allowed onto the Esplanade to take photographs though the standard of the performance is every bit as high as the regular performances.

These cheap tickets for the Tattoo preview go on sale on Monday 25 July 2011 (telephone, counter and on-line bookings only) and range from North and South Stand seats to the excellent East Stand seats. Given that these are half-price tickets, you will be paying the following prices:

The Edinburgh Tatoo preview tickets are ideal for those looking to see this spectacular military parade for a fraction of the normal price as well as for those who did not get a chance to book regular tickets in time.
