The Old Waverley Hotel

Hotel rooms at the Old Waverley

The guest rooms and bathrooms at the Old Waverley Hotel could do with a complete redecoration to keep the pace with its rival City Centre accommodations. But to the hotel's credit, there are no other hotels on Princes Street or in other City Centre locations at comparable prices which makes it good value for money.

Views of Edinburgh from the hotel

Despite being quite small in comparison to other hotels, the rooms at the Old Waverley are well maintained, clean and cosy. The rooms at the front of the hotel look out on Princes Street and Scott Monument.

The views from the Old Waverley of Edinburgh City Centre landmarks are certainly one of the reasons people come to stay here. The views at the back of the hotel are not as attractive and some rooms don't have any windows at all which can be a problem.

Hotel rooms and facilities

There are a total of 66 en-suite bedrooms at the Old Waverley Hotel with prices ranging from £30.00 to £94. You can choose from single, double and twin rooms. The most expensive rooms are the upper floors ones with a view of Scott Monument.

The breakfast at the Old Waverley hotel can be described as a hearty full Scottish breakfast that includes bacon, mushrooms, tomato, beans, haggis, potato, toast, marmalades, honey, coffee or tea.

Facilities at the Old Waverley hotel include tea/coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone, TV, but there are no ironing facilities or trouser press. There is no air conditioning at the Old Waverley.

Weak points of the Old Waverley Hotel

Old Waverley Hotel, Edinburgh - Bottom line

The Old Waverley is a good choice of hotel accommodation thanks to its excellent central location in Edinburgh and great views. The rooms and facilities are acceptable but could be a lot better. Find a hotel as cheap and as centrally placed in Edinburgh as the Old Waverley is difficult.
