Getting to the Sheraton Hotel

The Sheraton Hotel is very centrally placed which makes transport to it and from it easy and accessible.

From Waverley Train Station

Walk the full length of Princes Street, turn left on Lothian Road until you see the Sheraton Hotel opposite Usher Hall. Alternatively, take buses 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 22 from Princes Street.

From St. Andrews Bus Station

Walk along the East side of St. Andrews square for about 4 minutes until reaching Princes Street. Walk to your left and take bus 22 to Lothian Road.

From Edinburgh International Airport

Take the shuttle express bus and get off at the first stop on Princes Street. Cross the street and come back to turn a left down Lothian Road. Walk until you see the Sheraton Hotel opposite Usher Hall.

Origin of 'Edinburgh'

According to the Scottish Place Names dictionary, the name Edinburgh means 'Fort of the Rock Face'. The 'edin' part comes from Scottish Gaelic and means 'rock face', while 'burgh' comes from Old English meaning stronghold.
